Handspun Rosaries is the communion of a lapsed Catholic, the memories and reflections of a Filipina American immigrant raised to internalize the colonial heritage of her Christian-centric society. In these poems, Dina Klarisse weaves prayer and narrative into a lifelong interrogation of God: she scavenges for the remnants of faith in identity, reminisces on family rituals, questions the dogmatic monsterization of women — and ultimately invites us to look for a new, expanded horizon of belief and faith.
